You are Love—But By Who? Find the answer below.
"I love you," can be an easy thing to say, but not for God. When God says, “I love you” it comes with the most powerful demonstration of real love anyone has ever shown. God loves you and here is what He did to prove it. The Scripture declares, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Let’s take this verse apart bit by bit and see what is being said.
“For God so loved the world” You are personally and individually loved
by the God of all Heaven. As a parent loves his children, so God loves you.
“That He gave His only begotten Son” God sent His Son, Jesus, into
this world to offer up Himself on the cross to pay your sin penalty.
“That whoever believes in Him” God requires only one thing for forgiveness and eternal life: Believe on Jesus and what He did on the cross. This is not a simple head knowledge but a heart that cries out in repentance of sin and truly believes on Jesus and what He did on the cross.
“Should not perish” What does perish mean? It means to die without forgiveness and thus to perish in hell forever. God is not willing for anyone to perish, His love and compassion are great, therefore He sent His Son, Jesus to the cross to pay your sin penalty.
“But have everlasting life.” This means Heaven, forgiveness, everlasting joy and peace. That is God’s promise to you and to all who come to Him by faith in His Son, Jesus and His redeeming work on the cross.
The rest is up to you. To put your trust in Jesus as your Savior is life changing. God has done ALL the work. The choice is now up to you. Won’t you call out to Him and trust Him today?
